POST + GABLE HOUSE
“From the first site meeting I had complete confidence in Kirsten and her ability to understand what we were after.” — From the Client
A refined composition of textures, materials and structural expression was applied to transform this existing house in Warrandyte South on a large allotment.
Kirsten was engaged for an all-encompassing scope of works including additions and alterations to the existing home, a complete reconfiguration of the internal footprint, external finishes and features, the landscape link between the two wings, as well as interior styling.
Anchoring the entry is an arbour made from reclaimed wharf pier posts. The home features abundant framed views with expansive glazed doors and corner windows to frame the broad landscape views. New expressed steel posts realign the wide-sweeping verandah to create architectural articulation to this long stretching elevation and support the extended gable verandahs.
A sprawling basement level hosts a large entertaining area overlooking the pool and outdoor barbeque area with bar, cellar, home theatre and gym. The selected artworks and furnishings uphold contemporary living throughout the home. Softer finishes like American oak timber flooring and wool carpet paired with heavier elements like stone, black framed windows and charred timber provide a counterbalance to the sweeping views and more intimate living spaces.
